Thank you for choosing HabitFlow ("we", "our", or "the App"). Your privacy is our highest priority. HabitFlow was built from the ground up as a 100% local-first, privacy-respecting habit tracker and daily routine planner.

This Privacy Policy explains how HabitFlow handles your information, what device permissions the app requests, and our strict commitment to zero third-party tracking.

1. Summary of Core Principles

  • Zero Cloud Data Collection: We do not collect, upload, store, or transmit your personal habit records, routines, notes, or usage data to any external server.
  • No User Account Required: You can use 100% of HabitFlow without signing up, logging in, or providing an email address, phone number, or name.
  • Zero Ads & Zero Tracking: HabitFlow contains no third-party advertising SDKs, no behavioral tracking frameworks, and no marketing beacons.
  • You Own Your Data: All your habit logs, streak records, completion history, and settings remain solely on your device in your private sandboxed local database.

2. Information We Store Locally on Your Device

All information generated within HabitFlow is stored locally on your device using Android's private, sandboxed SQLite/Room database:

  • Habits & Routines: Habit titles, descriptions, target frequencies (daily, weekly, interval), reminders, and routine groupings.
  • Logs & Streaks: Daily check-ins, numeric completion counts, current streak counts, and best streak records.
  • App Preferences: Theme selection (System, Light, Dark, AMOLED), accent colors, haptic feedback toggles, and sound effect preferences.
  • Achievements & Milestones: Badges and unlocks earned through consistency.

This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly initiate a local export.

3. Device Permissions & How They Are Used

HabitFlow only requests standard Android permissions that are strictly necessary to deliver its core functionality:

| Permission | Technical Name | Purpose | | :------------------ | :----------------------------------------------------------- | :------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | | Notifications | android.permission.POST_NOTIFICATIONS | Delivers punctual local reminders for habits and routines that you schedule. Notifications are generated locally by your device. | | Exact Alarms | android.permission.SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM, USE_EXACT_ALARM | Ensures habit reminders trigger punctually at the exact time you specify. | | Device Restart | android.permission.RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED | Automatically reschedules your local habit reminders after your phone restarts so you never miss a routine. | | Haptic Feedback | android.permission.VIBRATE | Provides tactile vibration feedback when you complete habits or trigger milestone confetti. | | Biometric Lock | android.permission.USE_BIOMETRIC | Allows you to lock HabitFlow behind your device's fingerprint or biometric sensor. All biometric checks are handled strictly by the Android OS Keystore / BiometricPrompt API. HabitFlow never has access to your biometric prints or facial data. |

4. Third-Party Services & Analytics

  • No Analytics SDKs: We do not embed Google Analytics, Firebase Analytics, Flurry, Mixpanel, or any third-party telemetry tools.
  • No Ad Networks: HabitFlow does not include AdMob, Unity Ads, AppLovin, or any advertising network.
  • No Data Brokers: We do not buy, sell, rent, or trade user data.

5. Data Backup, Export & Portability

  • Local Backup (JSON): You can export your habits and streak history into a structured .json backup file at any time from the Settings menu.
  • User Controlled Storage: The backup file is written to your local device storage or private directory of your choice via the Android Storage Access Framework (SAF). HabitFlow does not upload backups to third-party cloud servers.
  • Data Restoration: You can restore your data from your local backup file at any time.

6. Data Retention & Complete Deletion

You maintain complete control over all data stored by HabitFlow:

  • In-App Deletion: You can delete individual habits, reset streak progress, or clear all app data directly within the Settings menu (Settings → Data & Storage → Reset All Data).
  • Uninstalling the App: Because all data is stored within Android’s secure app-private storage sandbox, uninstalling HabitFlow permanently removes all database files, logs, and preferences from your device.

7. Children's Privacy (COPPA & GDPR-K Compliance)

HabitFlow is suitable for general audiences and does not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from children under the age of 13 (or under 16 in the European Union). Because our app does not collect personal data from any user, we fully comply with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and applicable global child data protection regulations.

8. Compliance with Global Privacy Laws

General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) — EU/EEA

Under the GDPR, individuals have rights regarding their personal data (Access, Rectification, Erasure, Data Portability, and Restriction of Processing). Because HabitFlow stores 100% of your data locally on your device:

  • You have immediate direct access to all your data at all times.
  • You can rectify, erase, or export your data at any moment directly from the application interface without needing to contact us.

California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA / CPRA)

HabitFlow does not collect personal information as defined under the CCPA, does not sell or share personal information with third parties, and does not retain personal information across websites or applications.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect new features or regulatory requirements. Any updates will be posted with a revised "Last Updated" date at the top of this document. Continued use of HabitFlow after modifications indicates acceptance of the updated policy.
